New Caver (Rookies) registration deadline is April 2, 2023 by 5:00 pm
Returning Caver registration deadline is April 15, 2023 by 5:00 pm
Orientation for New Cavers (Rookies) - New cavers must participate in our Ropes and Initiatives (R&I) Course on April 16, 2023 at Camp Skimino (Williamsburg) or A Place for Girls (Chesapeake). We will let you know which site. We will go over the Trip procedures, teach skills that are needed, and will distribute gear from our lending library. New Cavers do not need to sign up separately for Ropes & Initiatives. If you have a conflict and cannot attend R&I, please contact Kami and we will try to work another orientation for you so that you can still make the trip. Check the Forms tabs for the necessary forms to fill out.
Returning cavers - if you need to borrow gear, you can come to Ropes & Initiatives and borrow gear after the Rookies have gotten their gear.
Trip Costs:
Cost for New Cavers is $90.
Returning Girl Cavers your cost is $90. If you assisted in Cracks, Crevices and Crawlways, turn in your credit form and we will reduce the cost.
Returning Adult Leaders your cost is $40.
Scholarships are available for girls or adults who need financial assistance to attend.
Adults who agree to drive girls other than their own or drive cave groups will be reimbursed for their gas as well.
Cooks do not have pay for the weekend but should register.
What do registration costs cover? Breakfast, lunch, dinner, snacks and desserts on Friday and Saturday, breakfast on Sunday, lodging costs, shower costs, washing costs for equipment and borrowed clothes, gas costs to and from West Virginia as well as to and from the caves, supplies for the trips, replacement of equipment as needed, insurance for the trip, and minor administrative costs.
We need two - three adult cooks/Community Center captains and we can always use drivers- particularly those with vans or trucks. Please send in your health physical form, driver form, and permission slip to Kami. If you attended prior trips this year- check with Kami to see if she already has your physical form. Returning leaders and girls, if you are not currently registered as a Girl Scout this year, you can register with Troop 850. Leaders contact Kami about payment for member registration [email protected].
