About Us:
The Colonial Coast Girl Scout Cavers have been exploring the caves in and around Lewisburg, West Virginia since 1977. We, as Girl Scouts, follow the Leave No Trace procedures. We adhere to the new disinfectant procedures; which means that all of our gear has been disinfected prior to entering the cave. For cave preservation, for safety and to help each girl have the best possible experience, only small groups are used.
Safety is our number one concern. Before allowing our leaders to lead girls into the caves, they must first hold, at a minimum, a current certification in First Aid/ CPR and most hold current certifications in Wilderness First Aid or higher. Our leaders are experienced cavers and are familiar with the caves we explore which minimizes the chance for any potential problems. In addition, all of the girls who attend our caving trips are age 12 years or older and have attended a ropes and initiatives course where they learn spotting techniques, build trust within the groups and they have been instructed on caving safety procedures.
